take the barrels off the frame and clean the locking lugs. then try it , then if that doesnt work strip the whole thing down and clean all moving parts. but remember not to remove any steel because then you would have an expensive problem on your hands. though i would take it to a gunsmith and see w...

1889 2 3/4 in chambers, huh?
well i was tinkering with my new 1889, and i dropped a 2 3/4 shell in and it fit. i know these were made with 2 5/8 chambers. ive heard that some 89s were made with 2 3/4 chambers and called trap guns, is this what i have. i felt the rear of the chambers and there definitly not been tampered with so...

when is it safe to shoot the shotgun?
hey i just got an 1889 shotgun which supposedly had good bores, but really didnt. i want to know how bad does the shotgun have to be to not be shootable. the pitts dont seem that bad, theres just alot of them. maybe only .002 deep at the most. they start at the end of the chambers and gets better to...

dearbonized is lower grade then damascus. please dont saw the barrels
unless theyre already sawed. and make sure its safe and always use blackpowder. or ive heard if the barrels are in good cond. you can install chamber inserts to one gauge smaller and use regular loads, but do this at your own risk.

ah, that makes more sense. they were saying like 6500psi, how do you know what the psi is, do you look at the velocity and the oz. also, i figured that the price of that gun is a justifiable because it comes with the case and i looked to see how much they are and cheapest i could find was $150 and t...

you might try the parts section of this sight,or see if you can have a gunsmith make one for you like http://www.brileys.com they are very compitent or if it means that much to you see if you can find and old junker with similer hammers and buy that and switch both out. many other brand shotguns dup...
