Re: Remington 511P Question??

Your standard 511s had dovetailed front sights, and your 511Ps had a ramp. It was possible that since you say you have a dovetall that a 511 standard barrel was put on your 511P action, but you clarified that was not true because you said you had the screw holes. The 511P has a notch cut on the side...

Re: Remington 511P Question??

I was on the same page as John till you said that the original screw holes were there. Definitly sounds like someone just filed a dovetail to accept a differant sight. A pretty easy job for any decent gunsmith. They make a jig for it that clamps on your barral

Re: Remington 511P Question??

The 511P had a partridge front sight mounted on a ramp that reduced glare. The sight would have had been installed with 2 screws and not a dovetail. These rifles are very well built and yes very accurate. The funny thing is as generic as the gun was in its time its still built better than alot of th...

Re: model 11

Im not much of a shotgun person, but I know enough that yours sounds like a model 11. Remington at one time built some shotguns called the model 11 on the Browning design. Thats where the Browning patent comes from on the barrel. Your shotgun if a model 11 should look just like a Browning A5. It sho...

It sounds like you have a Remington model 11 made in May of 1940.

Re: Value of Remington 40 XBBR

Ive seen a few 40XB BRs selling for around 1300.00. I think your caliber is going to give you a little problem catching people, but its not impossible. You have a good scope, but you never seem to get good return on scopes. I do not meen to sound so negative. You have a great gun. I would say in per...

You should still have date codes on the barrel. You need to call remington with the serial number and they will tell you.

Re: MOdel 30 express 35 whelen

Nothing would suprise me. I do know it was never a standard run. They made the 30-06. 25 rem, 30 rem, 32 rem, 35 rem, 7mm mauser, and the 257 rem-roberts. Its most likely someone just had a 35 remington rechambered. Let us know how it works out. Billy

Re: Rifle Values - NIB 742 & Old Model 700 ?

Well I dont know much about 742s. But I tried to do a little bit of research. New in the box guns are always better then the alternative. What I gathered and may not be true it looks like around 550.00 to 650.00. The used 742s seem to drop off on value because it seems like most people bought these ...
