Torque specs forearm screw
Does anyone happen to know the torque specs for the forearm screw on a Model 700 and the Nylon 66? Info needed before beginning to work on same. One source stated 30-35 inch pounds on the 700 but no one knows about the 66. Thanks, Richard, Virginia.

Re: Nylon 66 Rear sight Installation
Avery 53.....the rear sight on a Remington Nylon 66 is attached to the receiver cover with that rivet you mentioned from the factory. I would be careful how you re-attach the new sight you have as far as clearances go when you drill for the rivet attachment and how you put the receiver cover back on...

Peep Sight Nylon 66
Does anyone know if a peep sight/ghost ring can be put on a Nylon 66? I would be needing the base to go on the grooved receiver, the peep sight/ghost ring to go on to that and then fine tune the height of the front "Shark Fin" front sight. Any comments and advice would be greatly appreciat...

Explain Redfield 1 piece base
I have recently bought a couple of older Redfield 1 piece scope bases in order to get the flip up peep sight feature. When these units arrive they do not come with instructions. I am curious as to what the large slotted head screws function is on the rear of the base. There are 2 screws at the rear ...

Re: Redfield Scope Base Screws Needed
Thanks for the info in regards to the 6-48 screws. You are correct in that Redfield was picked up by Leupold but no warranty or service coverage. ABO, Inc. and Iron Sight Co. do Redfield work but you have to pay. Check out their websites, appear to be very helpful and informative. Redfield lost out ...

Redfield Scope Base Screws Needed
I have on my Remington 700 BDL a 1 piece Redfield scope base with flip up peep sight and like it so much I bought another one for my 700 ADL. After purchase and during shipping the seller noticed and informed me the mounting screws and instructions are missing. He has offered to make my purchase rig...

Help Installing a Recoil Pad
I have had my rifle new since 1973. Over the years the old right shoulder has took a lot of stress and is now feeling the sharp recoil from my Remington 700. In researching for a fairly easy to install and quality recoil pad I came upon the Limbsaver models for the 700. One for a long buttplate, 4 1...

Re: Help identify a Redfield scope mount on a Rem. 700
Well 600RemingtonGuy you are exactly right. I should have caught that feature but because the scope was in place the peep (ghost ring) wouldn't come all the way up. Now that I know what the flip up/flip down device is for it all makes sense. And yes the front sight is intact and hooded while the rea...

Help identify a Redfield scope mount on a Rem. 700
I just received a Rem. 700 I bid on from GunBroker and it came with an older Redfield 3x-9x 1" tubed scope on a one piece scope base with 2 Redfield rings. Under the rear bell is what appears to be some sort of flip up/flip down lever. This small lever is rounded and has a hole in the center of...

Identyfying a Remington 700 bolt
Does anyone know if a Remington Model 700 bolt is marked in any way as to assure that it goes with the rifle it is in? If it is marked how is it marked: is the S/N on the bolt or a partial S/N on the bolt or some other stamping? Thanks.

Rem 700 White Buttstock Spacer Needed
If anyone knows where I can get one I need one for a BDL. Numrich is out of them and they have been for some time. Factory one is preferred but an aftermarket one is OK if it fits good. Thanks for any suggestions.

Am looking to buy a nice Remington Model 700 ADL in 6mm Rem for the son for Christmas. Must have factory sights but scoped or not OK. Looking to pay between $350-$500 used. Hoping if a seller is found a layaway program might also be allowed. E-mail anytime: highland424@cs.com. I live in Virginia. Th...
