Thanks 600remguy. No "A" prefix. Since you mentioned the checkering, I compared it to my .30-06 with a "B" prefix which I believe was made in 1981. My .30-06 has a skip-line checkering and my .243 does not. Pete

Date code question

I have a question regarding the date codes. I was looking at the chart and noticed the same letters being repeated. Specifically, I have a Model 700 BDL in .243 with a date code of "BZ." How do I figure out if the "Z" stands for 1975 or 2005? Thanks.

Hello, I just picked up a Model 121 that has "DRR" stamped on the barrel. If I'm reading it correctly, that makes it made in September 1946? It also appears the wood has been refinished, it being a really glossy finish. I'm not familiar with this model and don't know what kind of finish wo...
