The Remington Society Forums are great, but today the trend is to diminish gun related content to the point where it doesn't exist. Facebook, & FB Marketplace put ridiculous constraints on content in the name of "Community Standards". Come to find out those who comprise their evaluatio...

Re: Rimfire auto's that shoot Short & Long Rifle intermixed
Thanks for the explanation. I figured it had to be a different bolt weight & spring. But the floating chamber was an interesting thing that I thought Remington used again and again. I've considered getting a 550-1. A good friend has one that I helped him find a stock for. But the unsophisticated...

Rimfire auto's that shoot Short & Long Rifle intermixed
I have recently purchased three Remington model 552's. I've been installing my 2lb or 3lb trigger spring in them with great success. However had one that was giving me trouble firing anything. Hammer strike noise heard, but no BANG followed it... This rifle probably the youngest in the batch was pre...

Re: Remington 552 chambering problem
The failure to cycle was caused by the trigger not resetting. I installed a 3lb spring and everything resumed operating properly. This is not the rule, but an exception to the 2lb spring being perfect for ALL 552's. Trigger mechanisms are made in different years and although perhaps made from the sa...

Re: Remington 552 chambering problem
Took the trigger group out and inspected it. Found nothing obvious. Reassembled and fire tested it. Now it loads ok, but the trigger isn't resetting. It's a single shot ! Obviously there is something interfering with the trigger mechanism... which is very clean. All the levers move freely and there ...

Remington 552 chambering problem
Bought a 552, and it was Filthy but functioned well. I had a tough time getting the barrel out. Took it to Miller's Gun in Jacksonville NC to have him remove it without damaging anything. Then brought it home to clean. Four hours later I had it looking pretty again. Reassembled using a Youtube Video...

SKEET vs SKEET-B vs SKEET-T
See variations on the 1100 SKEET shotguns. Just recently purchased a 410 SKEET-T, with beautiful figure and high gloss finish & laser cut checkering.

Re: Forend Support 1100 LT-20
Thanks for the correction. There were markings on it that lead me to believe it was 1967. I was/am looking for a 24" Rem-choke VR barrel for it. Am selling the 21" "Special Field" Rem-choke VR barrel asking $550 due to rarity. I did get a 28" barrell but don't know if my wif...

Forend Support 1100 LT-20
I recently purchased a 1967 vintage 1100 LT-20. It's forend is a bit too loose for my taste... I've noticed there are no forend supports manufactured for any of the sub-gauge shotguns. Why? I have MANY Remington 1100's and most are tight enough. So I am assuming that the problem isn't common. I atte...

Re: Model 11 questions
The choke marking is on the left rear of the barrel near the receiver. I recommend against modification other than preservation. The guns are great, and built well. So unless you're missing a lot of screws or have splits in the stock, it's likely safe to shoot, and use. There seems to be a greater i...

Remington F300126 GasPiston
I bought some Gas Piston Seals and was backorderd on the piston. I've never had one fail, but since I have many 12ga 1100's think it's a good idea to have a few. The part I have is the New Style Piston_Seal.png and I need the Gas_Piston.png If you have spare parts, or will trade a couple pistons for...

20ga Barrel Seal Activator (not an O ring)
I have been plauged by poor cycling with light loads. Seeing a barrel seal activator made me think this may be to help the low power target loads cycle. Bought one... Not much written about them I am unsure if it is strictly an 1187 thing or if it can be used safely in an 1100. I can take the barrel...

Re: Shotgun Butt Stock contours 870, 1100, 1187 etc
I pulled a couple stock photos and overlaid them. Clearly the old darker stock is taller... overlaid buttstock.jpg old_buttstock.png new_buttstock.png Difficult to get precise with overlay, but this shows the difference in height of pad. As well the older ones are narrower. Perhaps there is someone ...
