Re: serial numbers by date/factory record book

Dang - I found a tempting lead on the Remington Society page - but then, it stopped. I swear, about 8 years ago this link was followed up by the pages of scanned production records documents! https://www.remingtonsociety.org/research-team/ If anyone is able to access those scanned pages, please shar...

serial numbers by date/factory record book

I am trying to do some research on nailing down production details for a few of my old Remingtons. Some years ago, I located the online scans of early 20th century serial numbers from a Remington factory source of some kind. It was really informative. Kudos to whoever located and scanned those pages...

Re: original metal finish on 1923-1935 Model 14 pump rifles?

I have no knowledge of Remington ever doing anything but a polished blue on these. The grip cap sounds like a personal addition, also. I appreciate your comments - I agree, that the finish was redone. What I was not too sure about was how recently that occurred, since the rifle had come from an old...

original metal finish on 1923-1935 Model 14 pump rifles?

Guys, I recently picked up a nice 1923 date Model 14 (via serial number - 87021) that appears to have been factory redone a few years later, via the barrel stamp - DY3. I think that means Sep. 1930. It has what I can only describe as a phosphate or parkerized grey-blue finish. Appears to have been t...

Re: Yet another Model 10 build date request

Later 1912, got up to 95 and change, made about 20K that year. I think any speculation based on the total production is just that, I think who knows is the right answer, but I certainly have been corrected before  Thank you! Hey, sounds good to me - and I appreciate your "guesstimate&quo...

Re: Looking at a model 11 at the local shop.

Thanks, yes I've seen that diagram, that's what got me confused, is it suggesting that if you have a Cutts compensator that you're supposed to leave it on that setting for both heavy and light loads? I think I wouldn't worry about the setting - just grab a selection of your favorite "shotgun f...

Re: Looking at a model 11 at the local shop.

Hey TDodge7 -

Try and take a look at the friction ring settings document I have attached. This may be of help. Not sure what to say on a 20" barrel that has a comp attached, but maybe you can get started with this diagram.

Yet another Model 10 build date request

Hello 'yall! I won an early Model 10 in auction recently, and admit it is a "gunsmith special" - TLC it does need! However, it does have a 5-digit serial number - U 93091 - that is present on at least 4 different locations, which leads me to believe it has never been "tampered with&qu...

new here - hello from Virginia

My name is Adam (Adam Lee is my username) and I am glad to have spent the time to register here. Been meaning to do this for some time, since I got into more focused interest in Model 8 rifles and Model 11 shotguns. Then, suddenly, I was hooked on anything and everything designed by John Moses Brown...
