Re: FOUND MY REMINGTON MODEL 7615 POLICE CARBINE, FINALLY!!
Congratulations and good luck dating it. I've been looking for the 7615 camo model since they were first introduced. I don't believe many of them were made.

Re: Remington Hepburn
Graf & Sons had some .25-20 SS brass about a month ago. This is new brass. Not cheap, but the best price I have found.

Re: Help I am traveling and found RB I can't ID with my RB b
Photographs would really help. I could be wrong, but I don't think Remington made hex to round bbls. Octagon to round sounds more feasible. Your description is lacking a lot of information. Does it have a saddle ring attached to the receiver? What does the stock look like? A picture is worth a thous...

Re: #2 New to me-Any reference indicate Mfg date by Serial #
Welcome. You have a beautiful #2 receiver and would like to see more photos. Is the CC a recent redo? I am more of a Rolling Block shooter than a collector, so I look for good solid shooters. I cannot help you on the dating. As far as dating your No. 2, someone will eventually come along with some i...

Re: Lyman tang sight for No 7 RB
Take it to a gunsmith and buy the correct size screw from him. Is the screw hole in the sight base countersunk? What length screw do you need? Do you have the correct size drill bit or do you have to buy one? Do you have a drill press so you can drill the hole straight so your sight won't have any p...

Re: Model No. 1 1/2 Rolling block
Do you have a copy of "Single Shot Rifles and Actions" by the late Frank DeHaas (Gun Digest 1969, 340 pages, softcover)? I'd imagine you could find one on Amazon. The book is written from the gunsmith and mechanical design aspect, rather than a history book - it's short on pictures and is...

Re: Model No. 1 1/2 Rolling block
George--You have been a great help in identifying my rolling block action. I appreciate you taking time from your busy schedule to share your knowledge on Whitneys. Now that I know what I have, I will start pulling single shot books off the shelf and start doing some researching. Thanks again. George

Re: Model No. 1 1/2 Rolling block
George, I too, apologize for not replying to your last post. Thank you for shearing more light on identifying my Whitney RB action. The extractor screw below the breechblock pin had me puzzled. I never could find a #5 action with the extractor screw in that location. In fact, it appears to be an exc...

Re: Model No. 1 1/2 Rolling block
Rider,
I have Roy Marcot's book (full of information and beautiful photos) and George Layman's book on military RB's (also full of information and great detailed photographs). Both are must have books, if one is interested at all in civilian and military RB's.

Re: Model No. 1 1/2 Rolling block
31 rst You can measure the bore diameter, measure the chamber length and diameter. Google for .45-70 dimensions and that would give you a pretty close idea of the caliber. Numbers, sorry I can't help you there. rider I have definitely ruled out a 1 1/2 action and if I read Mr. Layman's book right, t...

Re: Model No. 1 1/2 Rolling block
George, Thank you for replying to my post. Since the initial post I have bought and have been reading your book. The only reference to my action is on page 30 regarding the "Day extractor". I have compared my action to every action image and unless I have missed an image the photo in upper...

A RB breechblock question?
Hi, first post other than my intro. I found a Remington rolling block that appears to be a No. 5 smokless action by the patent date. The only markings I have found without out taking the rifle apart is the lettering on the tang "Remington Arms, etc., patent date Oct. 22nd, 1901 and CAL. 7MM on ...

Hello from Southern Indiana
I have been a Remington fan since my father gave me a Model 512 60 years ago when I turned 10 y.o. I have recently developed an interest in Remington rolling blocks after 30 years of BP shooting. I've owned and shot several Ballards, Stevens, Winchesters, and front loaders, but never developed any i...
