It has a black forend tip and Remington grip cap just like on the picture of the F grade I have. The wood is fancy with a lot of figure in it. The checkering on foren...

Re: Model 31 made in August 1931
Yes the metal has been reblued and not a good job. Also wood is not original. The model 31A up to around 1935 all came standard with checkering on them. A lot of dealers on the auction sites have the early model 31A and try do sell them as the model 31B because of the checkering they think it is a 3...

Re: Need info on 1894 two barrel set-photos added
Hi The other day I was not able to see the pictures but today I can. Yes the buttstock is a replacement. The comb is not correct for the 1894. Checkering is not correct but close. Yes it is a small frame gun. If firing pin holes are one inch apart (center to center of the holes) also look under the ...

Re: 1894 A Barrel Replacement
Hi There is another way to tell the difference in the small frame and the regular frame. Measure the distance between the firing pin holes. On the small frame it is 1 in. from center of one hole to center of the other firing pin hole. On the regular frame it is 1 and 3/16 in. for center of one hole ...

Re: Remington 1900 firing pins
The earliest I have seen a 1894 or 1900 double with floating firing is 1903 but most were still the early type up until about 1906 when all were the floating type after that. I have collected them and worked on them for over 45 year's now.

Re: Remington 721 in 280
I just found out the late made model 721 in 270, 280 and 30.06 would have been made with 22in. barrels on them.

Re: Broken hammer model 1894
It looks like you have the floating firing pin on your gun (1907). Are you positive it is the hammer broken and not the firing pin? The hammer's on the floating firing gun's usually don't brake. If it is the hammer the right and left hammer is the same on a floating firing pin gun. Terry

Re: Broken hammer model 1894
Hi Also with the fixed firing pin you must know if you have the small frame gun or regular frame gun. Because the hammers are reversed . The right becomes left and left becomes right. The firing pin and hammer are one unit and the firing pin is offset on the hammer. Say you have a right hammer from ...

Re: Help dating an 1894 CE
Some of my model 1894 gun's the choke starts 6 in. back. This is better than a 3in. long choke. in a tight choked gun. Terry
