I finally got the receiver cleaned out enough to see the metal and not years of crud. Tried 22 shorts and she feeds, fires, and cycles like on the day she was born. I did a little test shooting out the back of my shop @ 20 yds, iron sights and bifocals. Here's my 5 shot group. http://i1201.photobuck...

Got her this morning. By the barrel markings C XX she was born in April of 1951. Good looking gun with bluing approx 90% and the Walnut Stock is in great shape with only a couple of dings. Located and purchased a 550-1, the second rifle I owned as a youngster. Loved that gun; accurate, and ate anything I fed her. Looking forward to her arrival. I'll post some pics when she gets here and I've had a chance to clean her up a bit.

That's pretty much what I thought. I really like the 514; easy to use and maintain as well as a excellent shooter. Thanks for the conformational information, think I'll go shoot it some this morning.

Hi Folks; New member with a long and rich association with Remington Arms. Got my first one (514 in 1957) as a Christmas gift from my parents.
