If you are going to hunt, limit yourself to 300yds for humane kills. For longer range target shooting, I would get the longer barrel.

Remington made some Remington mod 30s. I have one of those also in 30-06. They are patterned after the 1917 Enfield that Remington, Winchester, and Eddystone made.

I just purchased this 722 and a Mod 37 that belonged to Mike Walker. Mike was able to pick better wood and had a non cataloged 22" barrel. It has a TT barrel code and a 34XXX serial number. It has a 1 1/2 power Lyman Alaskan scope with side mounts. I hope you enjoy it. http://i46.tinypic.com/14...

My mod 37 rimfire has no code date on the barrel. How can I tell by the Serial number on the receiver?

I have a high serial# Remington 1917[6766xx] It shows to be a higher number than I can find on production dates. Any info on this would be appreciated.
