721 Extractor

I've got a 1952 model 721 in .270. The extractor works fine, but I know they are no longer available. I found someone out of town that has one for a 30-06 721, that I could buy for a spare. He says they are the same, but I wanted to check with yall. I'd sure appreciate any information on this.

Re: Model 12 Year

1936 was the last "official" year of the M/12 with 4,030 made that year, but... There was mop-up of one in 1937 & one in 1938 according to Rem records. There were at least a few more since I have seen more than the published totals. So do you think that with my serial number that this...

Re: Model 12 Year

Thank you John. I hadn't even seen those marks until you mentioned it. Had to break out the magnifying glass. It shows E D, which looks like September 1936. Wasn't this the last year of the model 12? I've got some CCI Standard Velocity (1070 FPS) but I haven't noticed any others that specifically sa...

Model 12 Year

I just got a slick little Model 12. The man I got it from thought it was made in 1935, but I was wanting to check. Ser. #8349xx. I'd sure appreciate the information. Also do I need to stay with ammo that is rated under 1100 fps?

Re: mod. 14 butt plate ?

You didn't say what the buttplate material was . If it's steel it will be serial numbered to the gun on the back side . If it has original checkering it would be a premier grade and should have had better than average wood also . A picture of the forend would provide would provide a clue ! Thank Yo...

Re: mod. 14 butt plate ?

I think that is the correct butt plate. There were a few different ones in the Model 14 and early Model 141s until the finally settled on the checkerd steel buttplate. There were three grades - Field, Premier and Peerless. If you have checkering on the wood but no metal engraving I think it's a Pre...

mod. 14 butt plate ?

Another question for the wise folks of this site. I had to buy a replacement stock for my Grandpa's mod. 14 (ser. #C 668xx) from Gunstocks Inc. The old stock was broken and heavily modified, enough so that I'm not sure if the butt plate is the right one. It is 4 5/16" high x 1 3/8" wide wi...

Mod. 14 finish

I had to buy a replacement unfinished stock for my Grandpa's mod. 14 because the original one was beyond repair. It was a checkered one too which will be another issue. Can anyone tell me if the original finish was linseed, tung oil or something else?

mod. 14c

I have a model 14c with a broken stock, that is checkered along with the fore grip. I am wanting to replace it, but some pictures I see show only the fore grip checkered and some have both. I am looking for another stock and would like to know if it should be checkered. Also if there is anyone out t...

MOD. 14 STOCK

I love your site and was wondering if any one knew where I could get a stock for a mod.14(original if possible). Mine is a C 668xx in .25 cal. and it's checkered. I dont. know if the checkering is original or not. Can someone post a pic. of the factory checkering? I also would like to know the mfg. ...
