I put a Williams WGRS Peep on my rem 742 .308, same configuration as 7600. I love it, very accurate out to 150 ( I have gifted eyesight) fast acquisition, and I use original front sight.

in the pics he sent of his 300H&H, barrel stamps appear to be original, does not look like re-bored from 30-06

yy code, 52, my barrel has "hump" I know Magnum barrels are heavier, that is why I am vexed as to how his 300H&H is same contour as standard 721 barrel (300 savage) My barrel is much fatter from recoil lug all the way up past the hump. He sent me pic of his 300H&H in it's new stock...

I just bought a stock that came from a 721 300H&H, but my 721 300HH action does not even come close to fitting in it. However a 300 savage take-off barrel fits right in. Did rem make two-different barrel profiles for the 300H&H? If anyone knows where to find the proper stock I'd like to know...

SO all 700 in standard calibers were only 20" barrels? Wow!!! I bet velocity suffered along with eardrums.

Anyone know how many of these 20" barreled 700s were made in which calibers? I don't see many around, most seem to be 30-06.

Are these more valuable than a standard length 700 of same era?

Mine is a 721 30-06 A tt, March 48, s# 279xx tapped

In decent shape, stock has a little crack behind reciever. I am planning on re-barreling to 25-06 with a rem 700 takeoff barrel, putting on a very nice 700 adl stock. Unless there is a good reason I should not?

No sights would be better, but i'll take what I can get. I care not if it is dinged up on the outside, just want a good bore and good threads.
