Re: 870 WingMaster - Modification to reduce "Short Shucking

** Below is the article that made me think there was some sort of modification available but I am not sure if this would be a worthwhile investment. *** The Gunner's Galley Sunday, July 31, 2011 Remington 870 Shell Lifter (New vs Old Type) Yesterday at my club's Three-gun match, we were discussing t...

870 WingMaster - Modification to reduce "Short Shucking" ?

Is there an after-market device that limits or removes the potential of "short shucking" an 870 Wing Master.

A modification to the shell lifter perhaps ?

870 Wingmaster 12 Gauge > Wood screws for buttplate

Anyone aware of the type of wood screw (i. e. #10 wood screw x 1") used for fastening the buttplate to the stock of an 870 WingMaster... vintage 1980 ?

I am replacing a missing butt plate with a 'Limb Saver' unit, however the gun is also missing the screws.

Thanks, KMD Canada

870 WingMaster > Breakdown Soft Case

I physically sized the both breakdown shotgun soft cases (as per the links below) for my 12 gauge 870 WingMaster c/w 26" LC barrel and although the barrel fit fine within the case, the stock/mag tube extended past the overall case length by about 1 to 1-1/2 inches. Uncle Mike's: http://www.shop...

Re: Wing Master shell catchers

. Well, I don't know where you're looking, but I found a number of them. How many empties are you planning to catch and under what circumstances? There are single catchers and "bags" to catch multiples. There are simple solutions, too. You could make a single catcher with a semi-heavy-dut...

That has been done and still looking but no mention of the 870 ever having had a device of this type desiged.
Think that someone here may have some awareness of such a device.

Re: Lubrication for the 870 WM (1976) Trigger Group

If you have any grease on it and go out in cold weather expect issues. If you don't have one, go to http://www.remington.com and download a manual. After the mandatory 10 pages of "Don't shoot your foot off" there is some good info in there. No shortage ov cold (very) weahter here... will...

Re: Lubrication for the 870 WM (1976) Trigger Group

Thanks Virginian.... I have plenty of solvent grade alcohol and will pickup some RemOil... have seen it several times in Walmart. And looks like light grease in not required on the trigger group and I suspected that. I have used some Hoppes Gun Grease (tube) on the sliding rails and that seem to be ...

Lubrication for the 870 WM (1976) Trigger Group

The trigger group of my 1976 870 WingMaster has not been cleaned/lubed for a very, very long time. Thinking of letting the trigger group soak in naptha (white gasoline) for a day to dissolve all old lube and flush out dirt... and then applying gun oil and light grease to the moving parts. However, w...

Re: 870 Wingmaster recoil reduction options

Seems like the Mercury is used due to its density. It is denser than lead [ The density of mercury is 13.534 grams per cm3, and the density of lead is only 11.34 grams per cm3. Alloy steel comes in at 7.7 grams per cm3 ] So more mass for a give volume reduces the recoil that much more. I may give th...

870 Wingmaster recoil reduction options

Other than "LimbSaver" and other similar products, are there any recoil recucing options for the 870 Wingmaster? I hear of the use of murcury filled containers of some sort that are placed in the stock or magazine tube. Are these devices available for the Wingmaster with walnut stock and f...
