Re: Model 14 / .410 Shotgun
it might be some kind of prototype. or somebodies hack job. as a side note, i have seen a model 14 smooth bore. if i remember right it had a regular 14 barrel but a shotgun bead and was in 44/40. it certainly looked factory to me. the guy that had it said that it was a factory gun made for the remin...

Re: 141 transition
they are generally ones that had model 14 barrels and did not say Gamemaster on the receiver.

Re: 141 transition
i've had a couple of transition rifles. i currently have a transition carbine in 32. if you can find the book by ken blauch, it will tell you a lot of info.

Re: Where are all the 14R cabines?
that explains why i see more 30's and few 35's. i snag them up when i see them reasonably, which is seldom anymore. they are the slickest sporting arms out there in my opinion.

Re: Remington 14 Carbine in 25 Rem
bit hard to tell the condition but it looks to be in fair to good. you seem to already know about the thumbnail safety option. it makes it desirable to collectors. that and being a 25 makes it even more so. if it functions fine, is tight, and is not too badly cracked and pitted, it would probably fe...

Re: Anyone else really fond of the 7615?
i like mine. i bought it when they first came out and put a nikon 2-7x32 on it. the trigger was horrendous though but once i had that lightened up, it shot great. not a tack driver, but then again i have shot nothing but cheapo ammo in it. my only complaint is that it seems heavy for its size. must ...

Re: Refinishing a Model 14 carbine
finished this up the other day. here are some pics. first is a BEFORE pic with the gun in question being the one on top with the blondish wood. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e128/rock1961/guns/rem-carbines3.jpg here is the pump handle with the repair. it is sealed inside and out and solid as a r...

Re: Refinishing a Model 14 carbine
finally got around to getting to work on this project. i took the metal to my gunsmith and he did an excellent job. there is a very slight purpling on the bottom of the receiver but only if you hold it in the right light and i'm not concerned about it. he didn't have to buff much and only on some no...

Re: model 14 and 14R
EW is oct '28. the SRC is an extremely rare gun. you are a lucky guy. if the 35 doesn't have a barrel code it is pre-22. the s/n on the receiver is a start to dating it but there are other things like the shell indicator type, barrel roll markings, etc that can help triangulate it a bit. ken blauch'...

Re: Model 14 or 141?
the mag tube from a rifle will fit a carbine. that said, it may take some handfitting. the date code is on the left side of your rifle barrel near the receiver. look on this site for the magic decoder ring

Re: Refinishing a Model 14 carbine
thanks jim. he won't be buffing it. its already almost entirely blue free from previous owner and the markings are distinct. he is very familiar with m14's. he's the only person i know who can take apart the bolts and put them back together. he did it with one of mine that slam-fired. i am very conf...

Refinishing a Model 14 carbine
A while back I acquired a 1927 vintage 14-R in 30 Rem that someone had stripped the finish and blueing off of but never finished the job. The gun had been drilled & tapped on the top for weaver mounts and the side for a peep and sports a non-original rear site. it had a couple cracks in the wris...

Re: Finally! A Model 600 of my own! sort of..............
nice gun. pull that big scope and put something like a bushnell 1.5-4.5 on it. and watch that rib. its plastic and can bend and crack. if your trigger guard is warped, which is almost always, you can find replacement aluminum ones online for about $75. those are great guns and excellent shooters. my...

Re: New member with Model 14 questions
none of that stuff is factory. the rear site could have been one of several. some had a wheel site and others had the wedge elevator type. i would not touch that gun if it was mine. your grandad customized it and i'd leave it as-is for future generations.
