Your serial indicates 1917 manufacture. Be aware of the fact that Remington did not always make guns in serial order. I have a 1914 serial that was made in 1925. I also have 52517, a 1917 number, that was made in 1920. Determining the exact date requires looking at several features on the rifle. ......

Remington Model 8 gunstock

Why not try http://www.gunstocksinc.com ? I and two of my friends got stocks for a model 14 and are very happy with them. The walnut was good and it was inletted and 80% finished. When done, it looks entirely original. They list straight grip stocks for the Model 8.................tom

To my knowledge, Remington supplied rifles to Russia, Britain and France, but those orders did not include machine guns. They did make the M1917 Browning water cooled machine gun for the US once we got into the war. I believe they made around 12,000 of those....Tom H

My knowledge about rolling blocks is extremely limited, but I don't think the cartridge would be a 32 Remington. The 32 Remington was introduced around 1908 and is a rimless cartridge. I think rolling blocks used only rimmed cartridges in various sizes. Rolling blocks were once advertised in 32-100....
