Another Notch in the stock
Hello Folks, A week or so ago I put up a post about shooting a deer with my hand-me-down Model 14 and getting to add a notch in the stock. A tradition that one of my ancestors started. Well, on Saturday I got to add another one. This time it was a buck at 20 yards. A shot through both front shoulder...

Re: Model 14 .25 Rem Youth Rifle?
This is all good stuff. I appreciate you all taking time to reply. Please keep your thoughts coming. So, would the .25 be at least as effective as a .243? If so, it's good enough for me. I have a lot of confidence in the .243. Around here that rifle can get the job done all day long. We all grew up ...

Re: Model 14 .25 Rem Youth Rifle?
Well, the .30 rifles are certainly easier to find for sale than the .25s.
How does recoil compare between all the model 14s and, let's say a modern .243?

Re: Model 14 First Kill in 50+ Years
Thanks. Believe me, I appreciate the history of this gun. My great uncle was the original owner and his initials are carved in the foregrip and the bottom of the pistol grip on the stock. He also, as I said earlier, carved notches in the stock for deer he killed. Neat character. When he died, my gra...

Model 14 .25 Rem Youth Rifle?
Hi Folks, Assuming that I could find one to buy, do you think that a .25 Remington (Model 14) would make a good youth rifle? I have been thinking of buying a .243 for my 10 year old son, but I got to thinking about the .25 instead. I'm thinking of getting a shorter stock made for it but keep the ori...

Sling Swivels
Hey Folks, I am trying to decide if I should put sling swivels and a sling on my 1932 Model 14 .35 Remington. The gun is in good condition, all original. I do not care that much about collectible value, but I do want to hunt with it a lot and to be able to safely hoist up into a tree stand. Is it bl...

Model 14 First Kill in 50+ Years
Hey Folks, Last week I took my old Model 14 .35 Remington hunting. This gun is a family heirloom and it was shot for the first time in 50+ years on New Years Day, 2009. Anyway, at 7:30 AM a nice doe showed up. After about 10 minutes she offered a broadside shot @ 45 yards. The bullet went through bo...

Re: Model 14 .35 windage
Thank you for the tip. I thought that was the case but it does not seem to want to move and I was afraid to whack on it too hard. I am using a brass bolt to tap the front sight. I still don't understand how to move the rear sight. It seems like it is fixed to the barrel. Which part of the sight is s...

Model 14 .35 windage
Hello All, This is my first post so let me say how much I appreciate y'all keeping up this site. I have a quick question... I have a model 14 .35 Remington that is shooting way to the right. It is all original with factory open sights. I understand how to adjust the elevation but how do you adjust t...
