Re: Model 11 20 gauge shotgun
It is worth what someone is willing to pay. Take it to a gun shop or pawn shop and see what they will give you for it. Search closed auction on gunbroker and see what people paid for guns like yours that actually sold. On gun this old condition is everything for collectors.

Re: When did the Remington logo get added to the Model 51 frame?
If you have a .380 the logo was added at serial no. 40,000. That would be about 1921.

Look in the current research section. Mark Hammond can probably answer your questions. I believe the square mark is called the sun mark.

Re: Model 11 friction rings
As you have found out there are various versions of the friction ring. You should put the flat side toward the spring.

The slide is certainly unique. Forget the rest of the gun. Has anyone ever seen a slide like this? I sure haven't.

The 16 and 20 share the same frame. The 16 "shoots like a 12, carries like a 20".

English shot shell box
I have a small collection of Remington/Peters shotshell boxes. I have Mexican and Canadian boxes. Remington made shotshells in England some year ago. Does anyone have these? Would you be willing to sell or trade one?

Re: model 17 questions
My serial #25XXX was date coded XS for 12-1925. It is marked Remington UMC. I think you are right about the delay of dropping the UMC. That is the F grade one. The gold name plate under the stock has the owner's name and a date of Dec. 25, 1925. What a Christmas present!

Re: model 17 questions
Maybe these questions are too hard. Who has the highest serial number early style 17 (serial no. underneath)? Mine is 25XXX. Who has the lowest serial number on the left side of the receiver? Maybe we can narrow this down. Thanks

Re: MOdel 31 forend wood..
Take it to a gunsmith. The nut that holds it on is hard to get to and sometimes impossible to break loose. My gunsmith worked for a week and finally got it off. If you apply too much pressure the mag tube can wrinkle. It also requires a special tool.

Re: Opinions on a Mohawk 48 please
The Mohawk 48 was produced 1970 through 1974 several years after the other model 48s were discontinued. It was not in the catalogs. It was to be marketed as "a leader or marketed through a separate retailer". This might be a reference to K Mart. It was pretty low production: 43,927 in 12 g...

It sounds like you have the standard 11-48. REP is for Remington proof. The other marks are likely inspectors marks. It is a nice gun, enjoy.

model 17 questions
I must like model 17s because I own four of them (one is a F grade). All of mine are the UMC variety. When and at what serial no. range did the UMC get dropped and the model number & serial no. switched to the left side of the receiver? When did the "BO" above the serial no. get droppe...

WTB buttplate for model 17 shotgun
I need a buttplate for an early model 17 Remington UMC shotgun. There seem to be at least 3 variations of these. My stock has a very pronounced curve to it. There is a 3/8" drop if you lay a straight edge across the ends. The repro that NC Ordnace sells is almost flat.

Re: Help with Model 17 Shotgun
Jay, I have #1506. There is no date code on the barrel. Do you think the serialization started with 1000?
