The, what I see as "XX", indicates a rifle built 12/29. EXX3 shows that it was "returned to the factory for repair" in October, 1951. The partial serial number is consistent with rifles in my database made in late 1929.....tom

I am no expert on 700s but you have been waiting long enough for a reply. I know of no 700 that was ever offered with a straight stock and would therefore assume that it is not factory. As I say, I am no expert on them and could be wrong.......tom
