Re: MODEL 14 / UNLOCKING PLUNGER

I would just like to ad that the above story is true. It is remarkable in today's world to find a gun plumber who will make "house calls". And the best part is, he didn't even charge mileage for the 2800 mile round trip....tom hemphill

Indeed, Nambujim is a miracle worker, Jesse. Good luck with your rifle. They shoot 205 grain ammo real good.

Re: Help on Model 12-A date

I'm no expert on model 12s but after waiting two days, you deserve some answer. 65410 would be a 1911 serial number according to Gyde's and Marcot's book on the Remington rimfires. Serials that year went from 55105 to 104041. ......tom

Re: Factory 14 1/2 R modifications?

Badger: You must be from Wisconsin. I'm located in Minnesota. I keep a database on 14s and½s, and currently record over 1500. Remington used parts in curious combinations over the years and trying to make rhyme or reason to it involves a lot of guesswork. AR=3/24 as a build date. KS3=May, 1925 as a ...

Re: remington model 25 stock for a carbine

25 stocks are almost impossible to find. You can use a model 12 stock. Take out just a little wood where it is inletted to allow for clearance of the breechbolt and they work just fine..........Tom H.

Re: Please help ID this 38-40 14 1/2

You have a 14½ rifle, made, according to the serial number, in 1915. Build codes did not start on this particular model before 1922, and would have been two letters. The "M" is probably the guy who assembled it or inspected it, and I find "M"s on guns ranging from 29000-70000. Ot...

Re: M-14 Question

On my database with information on over 1400 model 14s, I find 6 with threaded barrels. In the early part of the last century, silencers such as the Maxim, could be purchased. A quick look shows one on a 44-40, one on a 25, one on a 30, two on 32s, and one on a 35.

Re: Good deal on a Model 141 ???

The serial will be on the left side of the receiver. On the left side of the barrel, in front of the receiver, you should find two letters,a bit below and right of the "35 Rem". I suspect your rifle was made in 1936 or later. For 1936, the second letter is "E", while an "F&q...

Re: Good deal on a Model 141 ???

I'm afraid you are off on the manufacture date. 7081's receiver was made in the February-March period of 1936, so the rifle could not have been built in October,1935.

According to Gene Myszkowski's book "Remington Autoloading & Pump Action Rifles", 1,222 "C" grade carbines were made in 280 in 1960-1963, and 121 CDL carbines in that caliber were made in 1961-1963.

Re: Model 30

Frank: Last question first...your gun is probably made around 1926, based on those listed on my database. If you look on the right side of the barrel, or the side with the proof mark, you will find two letters that tell the month and year it was built. The second letter is probably a "T". ...
