It has been shot, but is in much better shape than most of the WW-II vintage Winchester Model 12 Skeet Guns I used at various military skeet ranges in the 1970s.

My "working class" upbringing doesn't allow playing in that range. I'm saving money waiting for a D or E quality 10-gauge to surface. I've never seen/recorded a 10-gauge above CEO-Grade.

Yeah, listed as "99%" and "best on planet?" has a number of improperly refinished parts, and even was listed as refinished in the June 2003, Bonhams Auction catalog. AAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGG!!

Full choke seems to be far and away the most common choke found on Model 31s, so opening one up certainly wouldn't hurt my feelings. I find modified, improved cylinder and SKEET more useful to me. Don't have such an issue with my 20-gauge Model 31 as someone long ago put a Cutts Compensator on it!!

About all that can be accurately stated is that 16-gauge Sportsman 1556255 is a post-WW-II gun. The old factory ledger for the 16-gauge Model 11/Sportsman serial numbers ends June 30, 1942 at 1551120. What is the date code on the barrel?

In 1916, they added the word "incorporated," in small print, under the Rem-UMC line.

The company name actually changed more. It was prefaced with "The" and the hyphen was gone.
