Re: Model 722 advice

I have to agree with John, using a chat forum as an appraisal service degrades the validity of the site. Realize this, when your rifle was new, it probably sold for about $50 - $65.00. For an additional $15.00 - the buyer could have purchased a Model 70 Winchester. While the Model 70 appreciated in ...

Re: Magazine for Model 760 in .300 savage?

I believe that the .308 Winchester uses the same clip as the .300 Savage, as would the .243 Winchester.

You have the internet - look at the facts page for the 760

Reloading components - why is the price so high?

Ok, so I went to go buy some primers yesterday. CCI 200 is what I wanted. The salesman asked me how many I wanted? I laughed and said that they were sold by the thousand. He laughed back and said not anymore! I came to find out that a brick of 1000 now costs $40.00 I bought one , reluctantly. Last b...

Re: Model 12 info and parts availability

Take it to a gunsmith, if the part can be made or is available, they will let you know. If not, then walk away.. With 100 guns, there is no reason why anyone should want to buy the junk when they could get a good one for about the same amount of money. Remington guns are not as collectable as say a ...

Re: 760 date code problem

Although not as prevelant as with shotguns, I have seen and owned 760 rifles which I purchased that were rebarrelled - both by me and by Remington. The bottom line is - you know when it was made so who cares... The kicker is to look at the serial number.. I tried to start a post where people could p...

Re: MODEL 14 & 141 RELOADING/CRIMPING / Bulletin #9

Crimping ammo shortens case life.. A 30 / 32 / 35 Remington rifle has practically no recoil... The key is to stay within factory reccomendations in the reloading manual for maximum chamber pressure / powder / primer and mininum case length... Keeping the case as long as possible allows you some leew...

760 lovers dates of Mfg / Serial Number

So it came to me on a whim that the 760 deserves its rightful place beside the 721 - with it's own topic and sticky..... My experience began in 1971 when my family members took a ride over to Grice Gun Shop to purchase a new Remington Gamemaster 760 My dad knew of some people who owned one and were ...

Re: Remington 760 info needed

Vendors such as Grice Gun Shop in Clearfield PA usually has replacements on stock. No reason to try to fabricate one yourself.. The bottom line is that on some low scope mounts, the see thru open sight got in the way of the scope. When the open sight was removed - the owner didn't want it back. So t...

Re: Remington Model 12 year/value?

I do not believe that the purpose of this forum is to appraise gun value's. I wouldn't even want to take a guess what it is worth. Although most people who are looking for a appraisal - usually are the same ones who are trying to either insure it for more then they paid for it. Or they are trying to...

Re: talk about your all-time bone headed moves.....

I was using my dad's Model 721 / 30-06 one year in doe season and lost a empty shell. Wanted to see how far the rifle ejected the empties and didn't have a empty shell out of that rifle. Found a empty of my uncles and shoved it into the chamber and it got stuck and I tried to force the bolt to remov...

Re: model 12 feed ramp problem

There is a guy, his name is The Gun Smith. His occupation is to repair firearms. If you take your firearm to him and give him some money, he can repair your rifle. I guess that is the reason why he went to school and learned how to do all of this. If you cannot find a reputable gunsmith in your area...

Re: 760 special order

The forearm on a late model 760 Gamemaster is like a baseball bat. Fat on the end and tapered towards the front. As others has said, there is not enough meat on the forearm to remove the amount of wood necessary to make it function with the original equipment from the 1953 model rifle. However - it ...

There is no take down guide - because there is no user serviceable parts inside that an average person can assemble and disassemble without some specialized tools. You saved your money to purchase this jewel and now you want to take it apart and scuff it all up. If you had a gun vise and machinist t...
