Re: 141 question

A friend had the same thing happen to his. He got a replacement cover from Wiseners. He said it was a pain to get fitted correctly.

If you could post a picture and some measurements one of us could surely figure it out.

Re: Mo 25 mystery markings

That’s good general advice gentlemen. And you make great straight men for one of my favorite rants. So I take no offense. My only concern with converting a Mo25 to 218 Bee is that the Bee is rated for much higher pressures than should be used in the 25. In my experience, loads for the Mo25 should be...

Re: Mo 25 mystery markings

That sounds about right. Externally it is well worn. But the internals and bore are in excellent condition, and the action slick, indicating it was carried much and shot little. I took it out shooting yesterday and it did very well. I had originally planned to make this the one that I convert to 218...

Re: Remington Model 14 has a little "play" .

Just to clarify my earlier comments, not to pick a fight. Its my opinion that the slots at the back were designed to maintain alignment of the two receiver halves and to bear loads created during firing and carrying. The takedown pin (screw) is small in relation to recoil forces, and was not designe...

Re: Model 141 Magazine feeding problem

I haven't seen that before. Nothing comes to mind off hand. Maybe later. If you figure it out please come back and post what you learned. On second thought, check to make sure that the cartridge stop isnt missing. I cant remember if that will cause your problem or not, but it is a common to have the...

Re: Remington Model 14 has a little "play" .

Looseness in the two halves can easily be tightened up by careful peening in the right places. But if it is loose there, then there is probably wear in the action as well, and that is a much harder problem to fix. Try dry firing it. If the trigger is very mushy, and you want it for a shooter, think ...

Mo 25 mystery markings

Anyone have an idea what these markings are? They look like inventory marks to me. But who's inventory?

Rifle is a Rem Mo 25 in 32 WCF. Upper and lower receiver sections have mismatched S/Ns. Looks like it has been carried quite a lot.

Re: Shooting through brush - .35 Remington

Another factor to consider (besides deflection) is bullet performance. I once shot a buck with a 444 Marlin via a 2 inch sapling. The range was 25yds. The sampling was centered. The bullet was a 240gr flat soft point. It hit the point of aim, in the crease behind the shoulder, left a 6 inch entrance...

Re: model 14 .30 remington use 150gr or 170gr?

My 14s like 150gr just fine, shooting around 1.5MOA using 30 gr of 3031 (give or take a little depending on temperature), which is a fairly standard load for 30-30. I haven't tried the 170gr but I did find 10 boxes of original Remington 170gr loads on a shelf in a farm store (bought them all). Haven...

Re: model 14 in 30 remington

33.5gr of 3031 for 2500fps is a good load for the 125gr Sierra FN. 33gr of 3031 for 2500fps is a good load for the 130gr Speer FP. Both of these loads are near 100% load density and run at the same approximate pressure as the standard 30gr 3031/150gr bullet load. They yield optimal bullet times in a...

Re: Remington 12CS Chambering Question

Dont know if you are still monitoring this thread but thought I would mention that I recently worked on a Mo 25 that had what sounds like the same problem. (Mo 25 and Mo 12 have same basic action). Took several disassemblies and reassemblies to figure it out. It is due to wear. The fix is cheap (if ...

Re: Remington model 12 feeding problem

I'm on the road right now, so I dont have one of mine to look at, but it sounds to me like the hammer spring assembly (or whatever it is called) could be binding and preventing the hammer from fully cocking.
