Nope. I didn't know there was a change. Learn something new every day. Unfortunately I learn one and forget two.......

Re: Rem Model 12 barrel not tight on receiver breeching face
It did not leave the factory that way. It sounds like a replacement barrel or, more likely some Bubba work.

Re: model 12 pump .22
You have a Model 12-C that was made in 1912 according to Rem records. 1912 production started with #104,041 and ended with 166,537 so yours was made fairly early in the year.

Re: Rem Model 12-A
It looks like a proof/testing/inspection mark. Remember that the barrel was no doubt removed from another rifle and added to yours.

I'm quite sure that Rem does not have those records.

Re: Rem Model 12-A
Those letters can't be a date code. The "H" could stand for 1939, but the "T" isn't in the formula so it must just be inspection stamps.

Re: Rem Model 12-A
Wow! Interesting gun. Your M/12 was made in 1911. The barrel was replaced later. That is obvious sine it has a 1912 patent date on the barrel. Also the only year The M/12-A made a 22 SHORT ONLY was 1935. There could be exceptions give or take a year but no more than that. It may have started it's li...

Re: Looking for a buttplate and what year it was made.
There's no good answer. If it was in rough shape (shooter only) reblueing and/or restocking doesn't hurt much, but you'll never get the costs of the changes back.

Re: New guy here, full of ? need to date Remington model 41
The earliest M/41s did not have serial #s. They all should have the date code. They did not come with gold triggers. A total of 306,880 were produced from March 1936 to August 1939.

[quote="damcar"]Thank you Den that was very helpful and appreciated. You are correct about values since I see many similar ones sell for substantially different prices. I see one right now on GunsAmerica listed for $1195 that is not as nice as mine. Most seem to sell between $550 and $700....

Re: Original price for 1939 511?
It's on page 233 in our book. I don't think it would copy well with the equipment I have at home. Maybe someone you know has the book (Remington .22 Rimfire Rifles)? My copies are sold out, there are some available from some of the dealers on-line or at gun shows.

Re: Remington 12 question
According to Rem records your 12CS was made in early 1914. The straight grip stocks were not standard. No one knows what percentage were issued that way, but certainly less than half....

[quote="studechip"]You are right about the recoil pad, but it was replaced recently when the rifle was reblued. I don't remember what was on the original one, but it was very similar. I don't doubt your, or John's opinion, I am only trying to get answers. It would seem they are in some dou...
