model 33 sight elevator
I just bought a model 33 (.22 bolt single shot). It is missing the elevator. The seller said it has to be for the model 33, that others won't fit. Thanks, lbranch@npgcable.com

Re: Remington 11 ??
"The Sportsman" is the 3 shot version of the model 11 (which is 5 shot). The only difference is the magazine and forearm. However the 3 shot didn't come out until 1931 and your serial numbers don't make much sense. It is possible you have a mix of parts. Where is the safety? Pictures would...

Record price for model 51
Check out gunbroker #205544495. The model 51 went for $3,678. Claimed to be unfired in the box.

Re: whippett
The minimum barrel length is 18". Learn how to measure properly (bolt closed, rod down the barrel) and make it 1/2 " longer to be sure.

Re: Model 10 questions
I think the U is just a batch number that might cover several year production. I wouldn't expect anything other than the "model 10" unless it was a high grade version like 10D or 10F.

Re: Model 10 questions
OK, then is the barrel actually full choke? Any gun shop would have a choke gauge or the old way is that a dime won't fit in a full choke barrel.

What choke is marked on the barrel? If is is marked with a tight choke yet measures cylinder it has been cut.

Re: Remington Sportsmans 12 Auto
Your gun was an economy version of the 1100 made in 1985 and 1986. You can figure it is worth somewhat less than an 1100. Check you local gun shops and look at the internet auction sites (gun broker for example) for comparable sales.

Re: 870lw 28ga
The "s" prefix is not the date of manufacture. Call Remington at 800-243-9700 option 7. Also there is a date code on the barrel (left side near the receiver). Since you can't prove it is unfired it is a used gun and I don't believe firing it will make any difference on the value. Field gra...

That sounds like a reasonable price to me. Remington put great wood on these guns.

Re: Help with valuing a 17E
I have an F grade model 17 and I have never been able to get any kind of a factory letter about the gun. Remington seems to have no record of the high grade guns, not even how many were made. You can have the gun restored to look like the day it came out of the factory but it is very expensive and t...
