Jimbow, The code of AK is March 1941 and the anchor was used as an inspectors symbol. The only problem is, how sure are you that the gun was purchased in 1939, about two years before it left the factory? Could the "K" have been misread when it is a poorly stamped "H" which is the...

Hompac, The RJ that appears on the barrel is the date code. It could be either Nov 1962 or Nov 1989. The s/n structure indicates 1989. I checked the catalogs for both of those years, in '62 only one Model 572 is listed at a price of $58.95. It has a plain rear stock, a grooved forend and flat rear s...

The code of EQ indicates that your rifle was made in Oct. 1978. A gun in fair condition lists in the Blue Book of Gun Values at 275.00 for 95% and 200.00 for 70%. Your gun should fall within that range.

The Fieldmaster is a .22 caliber slide action, I am not aware that a carbine was offered. What is the caliber and model of your rifle and also check the barrel length, a carbine would have a short barrel of 18-20 inches? Your gun may also have a code on the left side of the barrel at the receiver wh...

My first thought is that the barrels with screw-in choke tubes would not be marked because the choke would vary depending on which size tube was installed. The fixed choke barrels would have the size stamped on them. Then there could be after market barrels that were marked fixed choke and later had...

Both of your guns are desirable collectables if in excellent condition. The condition greatly affects the price you will get for them. According to my Blue Book, which is not the latest version, the .223 at 100% is worth $1350 and at 90% is listed at $775. This gives you an idea of the importance of...

The 7mm-08 is not listed in the 2005 Remington catalog. Grice Gun Shop in Clearfield, Pa. has in the past ordered special runs of 7mm-08 as well as other calibers such as 257 and 25-06. Their phone is 814-765-9273. A call to them will let you know if any are available or expected in the near future....

The 1963 Remington catalog lists two models for the 700. The Model 700 ADL Deluxe which listed for 114.95 in the standard calibers and the Model 700 BDL Custom Deluxe which listed for 139.95 in the standard calibers. The big magnums were 15.00 more. The BDL has the floorplate on the magazine and a b...

I don't think so but there are many of the old classics available in Remington slide action models. Remington produced the .35 in the Model 14, Model 141 and the Model 760. It would be nice to see the Model 700 classic come out in .35 one of these years.

I got my information out of a book written by fellow RSA member John Lacy entitled " Remington 700 25 years 1962- 1987" It is an excellent book, tells you everything you need to know about the Model 700.

I would suggest that the date code is XK, the B being the inspectors stamp. That stamp can be a symbol, letter or number. XK would be Dec 1963 which is in the serial number range of your gun. The symbol, letter or number on the right side of the date code is the assemblers mark.

How about a little more information about your initial communications with the factory, and are you the first owner of the gun. Did they ask you to remove the stock and send it or did they ask you to send the gun? What was their response to your to your first request?
