Re: remington 1890 info needed

Yes, I agree with David. The engraving appears to have been applied much later and the grips look to be aged. Still, a really pretty gun and one you should be pleased to own. Thanks for posting the great pictures, I enjoyed seeing them.

Re: remington 1890 info needed

Scottie Good Afternoon. This is George McAllister (gmaque@aol.com). I pretty sure what you have is not a 1890 Model, but rather a more rare 1888 Model. Your gun is most likely a 1875 Model that was altered in 1888 when Remington went under and was taken over by Hartley and Graham. 1888 Models will h...

Re: Navy Conversion

It's great to have some history with old guns. I hope there are son's, daughters, nieces, or nephews to pass these guns down to. I think if they were mine, I'd get together with my brothers, try to recall as much of the story as possible including dates, serial numbers etc of both guns. Write it all...

Re: Navy Conversion

Hey Brat George McAllister again. WOW, that's a great revolver and rig. That's the sort of guns I collect and love. The gun appears to have original factory engraving, really nice. The rig, and ammo makes for a quite an adder. Your brother is a lucky guy! Thanks for taking time to post the pictures....

Re: CAXXX marked cartridge conversions

BrotherRockeye From everything I've read and folks I've talked to, nobody knows for certain what the CA mark means. The factory conversions were all in .46 with a 5 shot cylinder. The best source I know of for info on the Remington conversions is Roger Phillips book "Remington Large-Bore...
