Re: Model 722 advice
Your 2535x 722 300Savage appears to be the oldest yet on our serial number list https://www.remingtonsociety.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=410&p=854#p854 It sits between two rifles dated 11/47 and 2/48, I have one of the 300S on the list dated 4/48 Soft point bullets are adequate for Whitet...

Re: 721 722 725 dates of mfg
Look on page 5 of this topic. Click the thumbnail picture of a D SS rifle. If your 23893 was date marked, it would look like that. The U shaped mark is a proof, inspection or assembly mark as are the marks on the other side. The mark on the bottom corresponds to what is usually an index mark to inde...

Re: 721 722 725 dates of mfg
23893 would probably be marked R SS for 11/47 or thereabouts.
Your pictures show the mark missing. I do not recall ever seeing an unmarked one.
225xx 721 30-06 E SS 10/47 (see post on page 9)
239xx 721 30-06 R SS 11/47 (page 15)
Condition on yours looks good. More pictures?

Re: Transitional 725 / 700 - Kodiak / 1962 Safari
I have owned all the small calibre 725s through the years. Always wanted a Kodiak, but have never even seen one in person. A different parts gun I did see one time was a 300 Savage with the proper 24" barrel and dovetail sight swell. The receiver was rolled as a 722 with proper 722 trigger and ...

Re: Mod 721 Restoration
If you look at the list on the sticky posts "721 722 725 dates of mfg" you will see the Transition models began around serial number 4103xx and 4125xx. 4125xx 721 3006 B E 1/58 (confirmed transition type barrel, 22", screw on rear sight) I saw this rifle myself. It is the earliest no ...

Re: 721 722 725 dates of mfg
My grandfather gave me his Model 721 300 H&H Magnum when I was a teenager back in the late 1980's. And I hope to pass it on to one of my future grandchildren. It has a barrel code ♡ O C 51 and the serial number is 385xxx, so it looks like it was manufactured in July 1956. My grandfather was a s...

Re: Remington 721 trigger
I have a 722 with a 700 trigger in it right now. The safe lever might need attention to fit the stock and maybe the tang.

Re: Stock identification on 721 ..... fantastic wood !
Weatherby shopped some of their high end stock work out to a stock maker named Shaw. Shaw made the baby blue stock for the Weatherby rifle given to Walter OMalley (LA Dodgers). I actually polished on it for Shaw. Shaw fit an after market stock to my Dad on his 300Wby. Comfort of shooting was much be...

Re: Stock identification on 721 ..... fantastic wood !
The 725 stock I had was shaped and checkered exactly like a regular 725 stock. Except the wood was very fancy, lighter colored with much figure. Even the buttplate was proper original metal. This stock was 725 in everyway except the quality figured wood. The barrel and action were not enhanced in an...

Re: Stock identification on 721 ..... fantastic wood !
Fancy wood like that was a factory option. There were the Peerless and Premier grades. And personally I think the 700 line was just a clone version of the 721, 722, and 725 dressed up with pressed checkering. Early 700s certainly were equal but not better. The 700 Classic and Mountain were a good lo...

I had a 725 270 with wood like that. Sold it but have regrets.
