Post Remington gun stock finishes
I am repairing a 870 and 1100 rear stocks from water damage. The forearms on these are perfect so I dont want to touch these. What type of finsh can I use to match the high gloss that were on these stocks? I have them stripped and doing the final sanding. Some say trueoil, but I was told that was not going tobe glosssy enough. Any help.

! use TRUE OIL SPRAY and it will come out glossy. When dry for a couple of days I go over it lightly with a soft polishing wheel and white rouge. It takes the high luster out of it and makes it look more factory. Use a slow speed on the polishing wheel and go very lightly so you don't burn the finish. Jay Huber RSA

The original finish would have been a spray on urethane.

Just getting around to redo these stocks. The tb trap will take alot of time, so I going to order some new classic stocks for it. The 1100 skeet just needs staining and finish. I asked around most wood finishers say use poly urathane, spray if possible. Can anyone recomend a small sprayer air brush or what. I live near harbour frieght and looked at some they have.
