Remington UCM Model 1911

Post by Zk »

Hi,

What would the correct markings be on a magazine of a Remington UMC Model 1911? I know the magazine should be half blued, but the one I have has a "B" stamped on the bottom lip. Is this correct?

Thank you.

Your mag is not original to the pistol but correct for the era. The B stands for Barnes & Kobert Mfg, Co., New Britain, Conn. Remington-UMC mags are unmarked. They are identified by a short lip on the base, about 1/16 inch shorter than the lip on Colt magazines. (1)
