Model 1902 identification

Post by lane47 »

As best I can determine from George Layman's new collectors guide, I have a Model 1902, but I am unable to determine what country was it's original owner.
The markings are very few, they are as follows:
"CAL. 7. M. M." on the barrel
"H" stamped on the bottom of the action, between trigger and forestock.
"E" stamped in wood, between action top tang and end of top comb on stock
on the tang is stamped the following:
Remington Arms Co.
Ilion, NY USA
October 22, 1901
It has an Edwards rear sight, a Model 1897 front sight, and a knife style bayonet lug that is a part of the front barrel band. If you have George's most recent book, it is identical to the rifle pictured on page 27 in the Remington advertisement.
Country that Remington intended for use of this rifle is my question.
