Re: Making a Chamber cast?
If you follow the instructions, that'll pretty much do it. I would disassemble the action so as to not accidentally get the cerrosafe in the wrong place. When I plug my barrel I put the plug far enough down so that I get some of the rifling (assuming you have enough cerrosafe to do this). That way you can measure the lands & grooves easily.
If you're just trying to verify the chambering there probably isn't a need to fill it all the way to the top of the rim as you can measure the rim dimensions pretty easily from the rifle. I have poured them to the top, but it was because I was sending the casting off to get custom brass made up.
Also plug up the extractor slot or any other small hole that the melt could get down into by accident. I also tape off the wood or anything else that could be damaged by an accidental spill.
Hope this help,
Matt
