Just receaved this gun. Very pleased.
Bore is good with a few small shallow pits just ahead of the chamber. No problem.
There is a trapdoor rear sight on it now which I'm going to replace.
I want to find out any info on this gun that I can.
On the stock there is a 3 on the left side just behind the receaver, one just in front of the butt plate on top, and on the right side inside a large oval along with a [d], line under the d and 2 dots under the line followed by [R.C.]
The 3 I beleave are rack numbers. But not sure.
Is there any way to find the manufacture date?
Any help would be great. I don't have any books to go on yet but will be.
Also, do you take the receave apart like any other rolling block? Needs cleaning.
I'll try to get some pictures up as soon as my wife gives up the other computer.
Thanks
Doc

Re: NYS saddle ring carbine
Hmmm - "trapdoor sight"? Are you SURE it is an NYS carbine?
Any markings on right side of receiver?
What is length of forend? Location of band spring?
Thanks.

Here a few pictures.
I didn't take a picture of the tang but it has the Remingtons ILION N.Y.U.S.A.
then patttan dates.
