Model 25R production numbers

Post by opso »

I have just picked up a Model 25R in 25-20 to go with my 32-20. Can anyone tell me how many of the carbines were made during the production run ?

I maintain a database on model 25s and would welcome information on yours. About 33,000 were made, with 32849 the highest serial number on my records so far. This includes 56 made in 1937. Remington records never recorded whether it was a rifle or carbine. Estimates of the number of carbines generally run from 1000 to 2500, take your pick. So far, two saddle ring carbines have surfaced. As this was never offered in catalogs, they are thought to be "special order" items. If you have any more questions on the carbines you can contact me directly. tom h
