Dating 513T

I was wondering if someone could help me date my 513T im not having any luck the serial # is 57 i will post some photos below.

Forgive me as I'm not up on serial numbers of the time (I believe they weren't even serial numbered at the time), but your rifle seems to be an early one built in May of 1940, the year they started production of that model.

Our research showed that serial #s started with 1000 and were stamped on the bottom of the barrel ahead of the forend. Since yours is obviously very early production the 57 could be a serial #. Rem did not always do what they said in their written materials.

Thanks for the reply the #57 is stamped on the bottom of the barrel in front the stock.

Hey-just found the timing on your rifle here:

It looks like maybe 302 of the 513s were made in May of 1940. The block of serial number shown for May looks as if it includes yours at serial #57, so it lines up nicely.
