remington 510 targetmaster
I own a targetmaster 510 rifle. My manufacturing date is Code KH X this means manufactured May 1939 or May 1961. The question I have is there any way to tell which year. Such as little manufacturing changes over the years.
Re: remington 510 targetmaster
The M/510 was made from March 1939 to December 1962. The bolts and triggers on early guns were case hardened. Later ones were were chrome plated. Rem did use some old style parts in later guns during clean-up just to confuse us... The deciding point should be that through 1941 a serial # was stamped on the bottom of the barrel just ahead of the forearm.

John thank you so much! My rifle does have a serial number #21026. I received this rifle from my father as a gift when I was a child. I hunted woodchucks and squirrels for many years.
