I am sending this along for entertainment value and to show to what lengths people will go to, to avoid spending money for a much needed repair. This is a pre-war Model 141 and the attempt at the repair has considerable age, but obviously took place during a time when parts were readily available. Simply stated, the magazine tube must have been damaged so severely that the owner used a piece of copper piping to replace it. The pipe was well fit to the action bar, threaded properly, and that was all of the good news.
The action bar cover was savaged, the action bar was savaged, and at some point the plug along with the spring & follower ejected out the front of the makeshift tube. Again, I just send this along to show what passed for a repair in days gone by. Hopefully I am attaching a picture showing the copper pipe installed.
