Remington 512 “Sportmaster” scope-mount?

Post by CCRider »

I recently acquired a Remington Model 512 “Sportmaster”. There are some holes tapped in the left side of the receiver. I believe these are for a scope-mount. Does anyone know what type of scope-mount would fit this rifle and where I might be able to find one?

I stumbled on your question by accident. You are asking about a modern .22 in the pre-1898 shotgun section....

Your rifle was probably tapped for a Weaver # 344 scope and #3 mount, or.. maybe a Lyman #422 Expert scope. They were factory options on the Model 341 which preceded the M/512. I doubt that you will find a mount from a catalog that will work. Take the rifle to a small local gun shop or gunsmith for measuring. They may be able to find one for you.
