Post 1889 SxS hammers help with manufacture date
New here but I just purchased a model 1889 SxS grade 2 with matching serial# 43614 and I'm looking for help with the manufacture date.
this by far has been the best site I have found for information
so I appreciate any help I can get.

it has a cracked and chipped butt plate and a mismatched left hammer and screw so I will be looking for those as well.

According to the table in Charles Semmer's book Remington Double Shotguns, your gun was of early 1892 vintage.
