Single Barrel Shotgun Identification

Post by rickbmac »

Attempting to identify my single barrel shotgun. Please let me know what information you will need. What I can provide at this time is that an odd cocking mechanism is on the left side of the receiver.

Directly behind the lever used to break open:
Remington Arms, Co.
Ilion N.Y. USA
Pat. Oct. 30th 1894

Serial number behind trigger guard: 73678

The No. 3, or Model 1893, has a Purdey-type push-button on the tip of the forearm, and the gun is taken down by removing the forearm and swinging the barrel off the receiver.

On the No. 9, or Model 1902, introduced in late 1902, the forearm is attached to the barrel and the gun takes down by means of a removable hinge-pin.

It is on the tip of the forearm. With that I assume it is a No. 3 or 1893. It does not have any fancy scribe on the receiver. It does seem to be in good condition.

Where might I look to find more information?

Thank You
