870 Wingmaster Engraving Question

Post by jayhsj »

First off, thanks in advance for all you guys do! Here is a 1955 870 Wingmaster 12 Gauge magnum.
Here is what I know about it. It is a 1955 serial # 419906M. I have a receipt for it dated in 1970. My questions are is this a factory engraving? If so how can I tell which engraver did it? What is this guns approximate value? Lastly, where might the engraver have left his mark, and what would I be looking for?
Thanks a bunch
Jay

I don't believe that is Remington "factory" engraving. The wood visible is 1970s or later wood that would have been on a basic 870 Wingmaster, not on a D "Tournament" or F "Premier" grade.
