1100 12 gage mis-feed.

Post by sonic0072000 »

I have an older model 1100 12 gage, 2 3/4 inch chamber. I bought it used. It's in great condition and shoots. I was having mis-feed problems and replaced the gas o-ring and action spring. To my dismay, I still had problems while shooting doves this past weekend. Can anyone PLEASE help me figure this out?

What specifically is it doing? Have you completely disassembled it and cleaned everything from butt plate to muzzle?

I have disassembled and cleaned it several times, thoroughly. Sometimes it feeds just fine, but when it does hang up, the bolt will be all the way open, the just spent shell ejected, and the next shell stuck partially out of the mag tube and jammed against the end of the release lever. I have to reload the stuck shell back fully into the mag tube and manually cycle the bolt.

It sounds like either the magazine tube is dirty, the magazine follower is either fouled of misshapen and dragging, or the magazine spring is weak. It's ejecting the shell too slowly during normal operation. Or the interceptor latch is worn or dirty or the spring is weak and it's catching the shell.
Best guesses from what you describe.

I was thinking the mag tube spring might be worn out as well. Thanks for all of your input. When I get a chance, I'll order and replace that spring. I'll let you know how it goes. Probably sometime after the holidays. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

So, I replaced the mag tube spring and test fired it a few times. The old spring was definitely weaker than the new one, but I still had jamming or lock up problems between shots on 2 out of 3 attempts. It cycled perfectly on 1 of the 3 round bursts. Reckon I'll be turning it over to a pro from here.
