Model 11 Recoil system help

I recently puchased a Military 20" barrel model 11 and it is missing the friction ring. It has the friction piece and friction spring. I assume it should have the friction ring or was this not used on the military model. My non military model 11 has all 3 pieces. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks,Mike
