Bolt Handle issue with my model 58
Bolt Handle issue with my model 58
I have a question about the Model 58 bolt handle, I have had the gun now for about 15 years paid $50. for it, very good condition. The guy I bought it from hated it because he said he went through to much ammo with it. He went back to a single shot. I hunted with it up untill about 5 years ago when I was shooting at some game and the handle flew off. Never found it and I didnt get the game. I put it in the gun safe and I havent touched it since. I want to fix it and I just found the handle. Before I order it is there anything else I should check?

Make sure the retaining detent ball in the action bars is moving easily and under spring pressure to engage the handle. If you get an 1100/11-87 new handle, it should have detent locations on the bottom and on the back, but make sure. I have seen some with only the new back location - don't know if they were Remington manufactured or not.
What could have happened... did.
