The is no Model 31 Skeet Gun listed in the March 1, 1934, Remington Modern Firearms. I don't have any 1935 Remington paper, and the Model 31 Skeet Gun is in the March 6, 1936 Remington Modern Firearms, and it is shown without the barrel band.

In the 1934 paper the only Skeet Gun offered is the Model No. 32. By 1936 there is also The "Sportsman" Skeet Gun. Sounds like you may have one of the earliest Model No. 31 Skeet Guns. How about some pictures?

I had a '31 pattern skeet gun at one time. I think the S/N was in the 18XXX range and the barrel code was September '34 but I'm operating on slightly faded memory here. It had a banded barrel and the wood like the picture Researcher posted. No rib but that sounds like the only difference with your gun.
