Model 11 16GA Year

Post by billhuss64 »

Remington Model 11 16GA
Marked on the barrel below the stock 531921 M (the M is actually below the 31). Is this a serial number?
Left of the stock visible MOD EH then a backward "backward pac-man" and a modified "star". It also has Remington Arms Co. Inc. Browning's U.S. Pats 689,283-210,094-730,870-812,326
Any information on the marking? Age? Etc?

Look again. There should be a 1 in front of that serial number. 16-gauge Model 11s had serial numbers in the 15xxxxx serial number range. A receiver with the serial number 1531921 would have been put in work during June 1939. The EH date code on the barrel would be E = October and H = 1939.

All the 20's and 16's are marked this way on the barrel ring. The 20's started at 1 million (M), the 16's at 1.5 million, as Researcher stated. It should correspond with the serial number on the receiver, which should be 1532921, assuming the barrel wasn't changed out
