Military Remington Model 11

Post by dgandolfo »

I have a Remington Model 11. On the receiver it has the usual acceptance stamps and "Military Finish."

The barrel is 26 inches long, marked as improved cylinder and for 12 gauge 2 and 3/4 inch shells or shorter, etc. It does not have the military acceptance stamp (flying bomb) BUT the serial number matches the receiver.

My questions are: Is it possible that it is an all military gun without acceptance stamps on the barrel? Is possible that it has a commercial barrel with a number assigned to match an older military gun.

Another issue is that it does not have sling swivels. I've seen many pictures of these guns without them, but does anybody know if some US military Model 11s had them?

Any information is welcome.
Thank you in advance.
