I've inherited this model 11 from my father and id like to know some things about it. This seems like the right place
It has XG on the side of the barrel so i assume this is a 1917 made gun?
Serial number is 1525866 and the barrel has the same serial number.
It has a scene of a duck landing in a marsh with weeds on the left side and a walking pheasant walking in a field on the right side.
The front stock is round on the bottom
It has fine checkering on the front stock and the rear stock
All the metal is in excellent shape and I know its all original, my grandfather bought it new and my father never messed with it.
It looks like it was made very recently.
Any info would be a great help, thanks.

Remington Arms Co., Inc. introduced the 16-gauge Model 11 in 1931, serial numbers beginning at 1500000. According to the old Remington factory ledger, receiver 1525866 was put in production during August 1938. The barrel date code XG is December 1938 -- X = December, G = 1938. The roll stamping of the Duck and Pheasant scenes began appearing on Model 11s in 1937.

In the pawn shops in my area, old plain grade Model 11s sit for quite a while if they are marked over $250.
