Post Hello all! Newbe with NIB storage questions
Hi, I'm a proud new owner of a 1996 limited edition 870 take down. Dad got it new and it's never been touched or taken out of the box. Now, here's the question, how do I preserve it? I've got a few "working" shotguns so this one's going to stay "NIB".
I live in the south east and humidity is a killer. I don't have a safe so it'll wind up under the bed or in a small closet/gun storage. I've got a dehumidifier rod in the closet but It'll get bumped and banged up there. Not alot of room,it's packed.
Do I need to remove it from the box and wipe it down and with what?? I use breakfree on all my guns.Corrosion Inhibitor Vapor paper in the box? "Bullfrog" corrosion inhibitor pads? Aghh!
I don't want to damage it by cleaning it or not cleaning it. I've had untold numbers of guns but they were all hard working, well used but well cared for guns. I have no clue about collector gun care. It'll be my son's when he turns 40.
Thanks.

I'd use Renaissance wax, metal, wood, the whole 9 yards it will keep it like brand new....
