I have a Model 11 12 gauge (serial # 34xxxx). The friction rings aren't the same as the ones in all the instruction books. Instead of the bevel being on the outside of the steel friction ring, it's on the inside.
With the bevel on the outside, the bevel points towards the receiver for heavy loads. Is this the same when the bevel is on the inside of the ring or should the flat side of the steel ring sit against the spring?

Re: Model 11 friction rings
As you have found out there are various versions of the friction ring. You should put the flat side toward the spring.
