Why does the 11-87 SUCK?

Post by BusMaster007 »

I've inquired on a few Forums about the Remington 11-87 Premier Super Magnum.
Many of the replies are that the 11-87 and the Super Magnum version of it BOTH have had problems with 'jamming' or 'FTE' ( failure to eject ).

Is the 11-87 a 'problem child', or what?

I've spent a few days doing internet research ( homework ) and found a couple of alternatives, only one of which I deem worthy of considering --- the Browning Gold Hunter 3.5" w/magazine cut-off feature.
Damn nice guns. I've got a BAR MkII Safari w/BOSS in 7mm Rem.Mag. that is very nice, and I wouldn't mind having another Browning long gun.
edited to add: I see the Browning Gold Hunter has an 'alloy' receiver... :(

The Charles Daly Maxi-Mag looks like a good thing until I find that it isn't available in wood...it has an aluminum receiver...but it DOES use Rem-Chokes.
These guns are MADE IN TURKEY... :!:

I get back to the Remington everytime.
Steel receiver is a big deal. It just LOOKS good.
Not sure I need a magazine cut-off feature, either.

This gun would most likely be a 'reward' type of purchase; something to learn shotgun shooting on the range; something to hand down to my Daughters; something to say "I'm 50 years-old now, and I want a nice shotgun to play with!" :D
